Spanish Voices - Spanish Language Education Project

This three year project was co-ordinated by the Humanities Education Centre in Tower Hamlets, a socially disadvantaged, multiethnic community in the East End of London with a significant immigrant and refugee population.  The project enabled the young people of the borough to work directly with young people in Granada, Spain; Guatemala City, Guatemala and the Western Saharan refugee camps in Southern Algeria.
The core theme was "Basic Rights - as perceived by young people from the four countries involved".  This focus will be set within the framework of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and supported young people's exploration of such issues as their rights to food, a home and education.
